“Vítimas e agressores da violenta guerra civil na Serra Leoa reencontram-se pela primeira vez numa iniciativa sem precedentes: reconhecer a verdade dos acontecimentos em cerimónias de reconciliação e perdão baseadas nas tradições culturais locais. Revivendo a prática ancestral de fambul tok (conversa de família), a população tem vindo a construir uma paz sustentável ao nível comunitário – atingindo o que os esforços da comunidade internacional para o pós-guerra no país não conseguiram. O filme explora a profundidade de uma cultura que acredita que a verdadeira justiça reside na redenção e na cura individual, e que o perdão é o caminho mais seguro para restaurar a dignidade e fortalecer as comunidades.”
